Over millions of years, nature formed the white and blue agate layers with bold, tri-colored laces. It began with sky-blue layers, one after another, until an intense blue layer formed, eventually giving way to the rarely seen white agate lace. This gradual process created an aesthetic frame for the white, galaxy-like druzy crystals that formed within the geode’s cavity.

How Lace Agate Layers Are Formed:
It’s fascinating: agates typically form inside bubbles or cavities in igneous (volcanic) basalt. Over time, these cavities fill with water rich in silica. As the water slowly evaporates, it leaves behind layers of silica gel, which harden into bands. Each layer contains different impurities, resulting in the distinctive colored bands you see. Fantastic, right?
