Nature has masterfully formed the agate layers, revealing millions of years of evolution. The first layers of this geode display a deep blue color, which gradually intercalates with lighter agate bands, leading to the center, where only white agate layers remain.
The light, almost clear amethyst at the center is the result of clear quartz growing on the agate matrix, another highlight of this geode.

You may be wondering, how were the blue lace layers formed? It's fascinating: agates typically form inside bubbles or cavities in igneous (volcanic) basalt. Over time, these spaces fill with water rich in silica, which slowly evaporates, forming layers of silica gelatin. Each layer forms over time, and due to varying impurities, different colored bands emerge. Amazing, right?
