All natural, with no treatment or cement applied at all, this Blue Agate Lace (AKA as Banded Agate or Blue Lace Agate) was carefully cut from a special geode and the Agate lines showed up on this spectacular and rare natural art.

With no cracks, the agate is superb, during the millions years of evolution the layers were drawn as perfectly as it gets and a chalcedony inclusion can be seen surrounded by Golden Goethite on its side, showing us the interior of a amethyst flower.

Another highlight is the Amethyst color, with a clear formation, the amethyst points have a pleasing violet tone into it.

You may be wondering, how were the blue lace layers formed?
It's just amazing: agates normally form inside bubbles or cavities of igneous (volcanic) basalt and, over time, are filled with layers of water with high concentrations of silica. The water is slowly evaporated, forming a layer of silica gelatin and then a layer is formed. It is a very slow process and each layer contained different impurities, thus forming different colored bands. Fantastic, right?
